Worm gearboxes
Suitable for precise positioning. During continuous operation, care must be taken regarding the surface temperature of the reducer, ensuring that it does not exceed 90°C.
Characteristics of worm gears
The first thing that distinguishes worm gearboxes is their compactness. It is achieved by crossing the input and output shafts. This, on the one hand, facilitates convenient and quick installation of the drive, and on the other hand, provides compact dimensions compared to a cylindrical, planetary or other gearbox.
- The single-stage models have a transmission ratio of up to 1/60, but the two-stage models have up to 1:500. In worm gearboxes, the ratio of the number of teeth of the drive shaft gear to the driven shaft gear is much higher than in other types of gearboxes. The gear ratio determines how many revolutions the input shaft makes during one revolution of the low-speed shaft;
- Versatility. they are distinguished by a reliable construction and low noise level, therefore they are used in various machines - even those with special requirements for the silence of the drive. In metalworking machines, concrete mixers and other equipment;
- "Self-stop". This is one of the main characteristics of worm gears. Simply put, the driven shaft begins to brake on its own in the absence of rotation of the drive shaft. Self-locking occurs when the gear ratio is 35 or more;
- Efficiency exceeds 94%.
- High accuracy ≦ 8 arcmin
- Hollow thru-axle design
- Designed for more convenient electrical wiring and with a through hole from 14 to 32 mm depending on the model.
Where and how are they used?
Worm reducers are most often used in industry. They are used in the metallurgical, mining, woodworking and other industries, as well as in shipbuilding and engineering.
They are often used to work with medical equipment, conveyor belts, automated equipment and barriers, in equipment designed for bottling and packaging products.
